Preserving Maine's Marine Forests
Join us in safeguarding the vital ecosystems of Maine’s coastlines, where rockweed plays a crucial role in marine biodiversity.
Our Mission and Vision
The Rockweed Issue
Rockweed, a type of seaweed found along the North Atlantic coast, is a cornerstone of marine ecosystems, providing habitat and nourishment for countless marine species. However, unsustainable harvesting practices threaten its survival, posing significant challenges to the health of marine forests. The Maine Rockweed Coalition addresses these challenges by promoting sustainable harvesting methods, conducting research to understand the ecological impact, and advocating for policies that protect these vital resources.
